Schools nationwide have been debating whether kids should have cell phones in school. Some school administrators have banned cell phones. They say the phones are a distraction in the classroom. But others argue that cell phones are needed in case of an emergency of for calls home following after-school activities. Do you think cell phones should be banned in school?

I think that cell phones should be allowed in school because as the paragraph states there should be phones in case of emergencies and to call your parents or grandparents when you have after school activities.

I think Cell phones should be aloud because what if something happens to the kid and there is no way he can contact his parents or the school. Kid should leave there phones in there back pack during class time and if the teacher sees it she can take it away and give it back at the end of the day.

I think that they should not banned cell phones they are a way to talk to your parents when you have to ask them some thing or when you need to tell them you are going over to a friends house.

I agree with Nour it is okay to have cell pones in school but if the teacher sees it she has permission to take it away.

I think we should have cell phones in class because there might be a emergency and you have to call one of your parents. And if kids do bring cell phones to school then they could turn them off.

I think that kids should be able to have cell phones in school because if we have an emergency we would have to call 911 or call our parents. Also because if our parents are late and we don't come for a long time you should have them so that you could call them to see where they are.

I think we should have cell phones if you get good grades. But if you are slacking then hold back on the cell phones and pay ation in school and then get the cell phone back once you get your grades up.

For those of you who think that you should be able to have cell phones in case there is an emergency during the day, why can't you use a school phone?
When I was in fifth grade we did not have cell phones and there was never a problem contacting parents if there was an emergency. Also, our parents were able to easily call the school if they needed to get a message to us. Even this year there have been many messages taken by the office staff that have been given to students all over the school.

I don't think people should ban cell phones from school because if there is an emergency at school, then you could call you parents and tell them that you need help or for them to come pick you up. School's should not ban them because if you get a call saying that you are sick, then you can just use your phone and call your parents/guardians. Cell phones should be allowed in school in case of and emergency that you have.

Dear Class,
I think cell phone use should be aloud because if you screw up the teacher gets to take it away for the rest of the year. Also, if you use a cellular device during class you're are just cheating yourself. Its times that come where you're going to need your " cerebrum".

If you call from a school phone, then your parents may think that there is something bad going on to where if you have a cell phone, your parents would know it is you calling. With a school phone, the parents may think that there is something bad going on or their child or children got hurt. Also kids could text their parents to tell them that there is an emergency also.

I agree that you should be able to have cell phones in school because if a robbery or a gun shooters in the area and you needed to call the cops.Your cell phone is really important.

Dear Everyone I think that it is okay for kids to have the phone in their backpack but lets say that the power goes out and we get stuck in the dark and you have to leave early and your mom or dad can't get a hold of the school and they call your phone to tell you to come to the office to get picked up.

I think we should have cell phones in school because if you get hurt and your bleeding really bad and you had to go to the hospital during school and the school phone wasn't working you can call your mom or dad or even 911 on your cell phone.

I can think of a time to use a cell phone in class. every phone has a calculator and you can call somebody you know to get a answer.
